About

I am Indrajeet Patil, a Senior Software Engineer at Carl Zeiss AG in Germany. I own the GenAI-based application layer of the company's AI platform — the architecture, security model, and guardrails that business units rely on when they ship LLM-powered applications — and I drive the organisation's adoption of agentic engineering practices.

I did not start in software. I hold two physics degrees from Pune, India, and a PhD in cognitive neuroscience from SISSA in Trieste, followed by postdoctoral research at Harvard University and the Max Planck Institute for Human Development, where I studied the psychological and neural bases of moral decision-making. That work has been cited thousands of times, and the open-source statistical software I built alongside it — including ggstatsplot and the easystats ecosystem — has been downloaded millions of times.

In 2021 I left academia to build production systems across pharma, energy, and enterprise AI. The through-line across physics, neuroscience, and engineering is a stubborn interest in two questions: how people decide what matters, and how to build tools that survive contact with real work. Outside engineering, I am writing Distorted Mirrors, a collection of literary fiction about technology's quieter costs.
